FORT WORTH, Texas – The Sun Devils remained perfect on the trot in doubles play with two more impressive wins over a top-ranked duo and one containing one of the best singles players in the NCAA.

"I'm really happy with the way we came out in doubles again today," associate head coach Matt Langley said. "We are doing the basics well, not beating ourselves, and taking our opportunities when we get them."

Savannah Slaysman's pairing with freshman Tereza Kolarova worked smoothly as the two Sun Devils topped the No. 8 doubles tandem in the NCAA in dominant fashion.

Slaysman and Kolarova only dropped one game to the Texas Tech duo of Sabrina Federici and Sarah Dvorak on their way to the 6-1 win. Federici and Dvorak were one of 32 duos who advanced to the NCAA Championships a season ago.

In the Sun Devils' other doubles match, the freshman twosome of Lauryn John-Baptiste and Sasa Klanecek also earned another win of the young fall season over Texas Tech's Alex Angyalosy and Alex Valenstein, 6-3.

"For Savannah and Tereza to handle the eighth-ranked doubles team in the country, 6-1, shows that they are gelling really well together," Langley said." Seeing Lauryn and Sasa collect their third doubles win so far on the shows that their game styles are complementing each other quite nicely."

ASU went 3-2 in singles play with wins from Nicole Fossa Huergo, John-Baptiste, and Kolarova.

Fossa Huergo fought off the Red Raider No. 120 Valenstein and grabbed a three-set win, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 on court two. Saturday's match had a different ending than their previous matchup when Valenstein got the best of Fossa Huergo earlier in the year.

"It was nice to see Nicole pick up a win over a ranked opponent," Langley said. "It's especially pleasing to see her improvement, as it was only January that she lost to the same player in straight sets."

John-Baptiste took down Angyalosy in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, and Kolarova downed Virginia's Maya Das, 6-4, 6-3.

Kelley Anderson dominated the first set against Federici, taking the first set of their singles bout 6-1, but Federici came back to take the second set 6-0, and Anderson retired in the third set.

On court three Dvorak defeated Slaysman, 6-1, 6-2.

"Kelley and Savannah battled hard, and it was great for three freshmen to pick up wins," Langley said. "Lauryn seems to grow in confidence with each match, so I am really excited to see her progress going forward."

The final day of the Big Five Challenge kicks off at 6:30 a.m. PT in Fort Worth. ASU's opponents have not been revealed, but a full recap of Sunday's matches will be available on thesundevils.com following the completion of the tournament.
