Standout freshman Bente Rogge headlined the trio of Sun Devil honorees earning third-team honors, while juniors Mia Rycraw and Lena Mihailovic earned honorable mention honors.
The announcement comes a month after the trio of standouts earned MPSF All-Conference Honors."Bente and Mia were two cornerstones to our defense," noted Sun Devil head coach Todd Clapper. "Bente was able to match up with every center in the country and allow us to play a press defense much more this year than in the past. In addition to this, Bente¹s offense really started to surge in the second half of the season where she scored some crucial goals for us down the stretch. We feel very fortunate that she just finished her freshman year and has three more year to contribute to our success.
Rogge continues to haul in accolades following a breakout season for the Zaanstad, Netherlands, native. She scored 30 goals in her 26 games played to finish the season with a 1.15 goals per game average, a mark that ranked No. 24 in the nation's most elite water polo conference. In may she earned All-MPSF honorable mention honors.
Junior goalie Mia Rycraw, who notched All-MPSF First Team honors in May, anchored a Sun Devil defense that allowed just 169 goals on the year to finish the season with a 6.26 goals against average, a mark that ranked fourth in the MPSF. Rycraw herself accounted for 202 saves on the year, tying USC's Amanda Logan as the most of anyone in the league.
"Mia was one of the top goalkeepers in the nation this year, as evidenced by her first-team All MPSF Honors and Team USA invite," added Coach Clapper. "She gets the goals that you expect and always more than a few surprises, as well. Her ability in the goal allows us to do a lot of different things tactically on the defensive end."
Lena Mihailovic recently signed off on a 2017 campaign that saw the junior attacker net an impressive 45 goals. Mihailovic scored a hat-trick in eight games in 2017, including a five goal performance against Bakersfield in the later part of the 2017 regular season. Mihailovic was also named to the All-MPSF second-team in May.
"Lena really stepped up to fill a huge need on the offensive end. It was great to see her confidence grow throughout the year and there were many games throughout the season that she stepped up to score a goal when the team desperately needed one to win. She really became a go-to player for us at the offensive side of the pool."
The Sun Devils' collectively concluded the 2017 season with a fifth-place finish at the MPSF Championship by way of a 13-4 win over CSUB.
