TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 5 Sun Devils stayed consistent on day two of the PING/ASU Invitational, battling windy conditions on the back nine to keep a three-stroke lead as a team.
Monica Vaughn remained on top individually, shooting par-72, while Roberta Liti matched her second lowest career round from Friday (69) to finish the second round in a tie for second place with Arizona's Krystal Quihius.
"Today our finish hurt us a little and we will need to finish stronger tomorrow," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "We know this golf course well so we just need to stay committed to our game plan. Strong play by Roberta Liti is really helping us and Monica Vaughn followed up her record-breaking day with a solid even par. The Sun Devils will be ready to go in the morning."
Olivia Mehaffey and Madison Kerley, playing as an individual, stayed tied, now in a tie for 15th.
Arizona used a team round of 282 to move into second place while Baylor is in third with one round to go. The Sun Devils will be paired with the Wildcats and Bears as the top three teams, teeing off between 9:00 and 9:36 am on Sunday morning. The first team tees off at 7:30 am.
