Edwards was an All-Horizon League second team pick in 2016-17 as he ranked sixth in the Horizon League in scoring (16.5), tied for fifth in steals (1.4) and tied for 11th in three-pointers (2.0). He posted 10 20-point games in 2016-17, including a career-best 32 in a win at regular season Horizon League champion Oakland on Jan. 16. He dropped 28 at top-ranked Kentucky on Nov. 23 as he went 12-of-21 from the floor. His 484 points this past season are the third-most for a sophomore in CSU history, behind only Ken McFadden (708) and Clinton Ransey (535).
In 2015-16 he was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman team as he played in all 32 games and started in 30, matching a program record for freshman starts and setting freshman program mark with 994 minutes. He averaged 12.4 points per game and shot .748 from the free throw line as he earned Horizon League Freshman of the Week three times.

The Detroit native played his final two seasons at Cass Tech after spending two years at Detroit Jesuit in high school and earned honorable mention all-state honors as a senior as he averaged 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. He helped team to a Class A District title as a junior, scoring 19 points in the district championship game.
