PHOENIX – Eder Erives punched out a season's best seven batters to earn his third save of the season as Sun Devil Baseball held on for a 5-3 victory against UNLV on Tuesday night in Phoenix.

Erives matched his career high for strikeouts in a relief appearance with the seven strikeouts, not allowing a hit in 3.2 scoreless innings of work to back up a solid start from lefty Eli Lingos. The seven strikeouts were the second most by a Sun Devil this season, behind only Lingos' eight strikeouts against No. 1 TCU in February.

Lingos earned the win after going 5.1 innings with just two earned runs allowed with four strikeouts to just one walk to improve to 4-3 on the season.

On the offensive end, Tyler Williams knocked his team-best fifth big fly of the season while Lyle Lin was 1-for-3 with two RBIs to help lead the charge. Jeremy McCuin went 3-of-4 from the nine hole on the evening.

The Sun Devils wasted no time getting on the board, manufacturing a run behind Gage Canning leadoff single, stolen base and advancement to third on an Andrew Shaps ground out. Lin added to his team-leading RBI total with a sacrifice fly to give ASU a 1-0 lead after one.

Williams followed that up with his team-leading fifth home run of the season to leadoff the second inning and a 2-0 Sun Devil advantage. The Devils weren't done in the frame, tagging two more with a McCuin RBI single and a Canning sacrifice fly to go up 4-0.

Lin notched his second RBI of the game in the bottom of the fourth, plating Shaps from second with a two-out double after Shaps stole ASU's third base of the game. The Devils would finish the game with a season-best five stolen bases in the effort.

The Rebels cut into ASU's 5-0 lead in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring three runs to make a it a 5-3 game and prompt the entry of Erives into the contest. Erives responded with his team-leading third save of the season in 3.2 innings of hitless relief.

NOTES: Three of Tyler Williams' five home runs this season have come in ASU's midweek games this season….Erives had a season-high seven strikeouts in the effort, matching his best for a relief outing that he set against New Mexico last season…Lyle Lin has reached base in all but on contest this season (31-of-32) extended his ASU season-best reached base streak to 17 games…Lin has a six in 26 of ASU's 32 games this season…Andrew Shaps extended his active hitting streak to seven games, the longest on the team this season…
