Irving, Texas -- Three Arizona State student-athletes – Fred Gammage, Matt Haack and Laiu Moeakiola – have been named to the 2017 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, the NFF and College Football Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday morning.
Gammage, a wide receiver, was one of two student-athletes in the Pac-12 (both from ASU) to earn a 4.0 grade-point average in the fall semester, and joined Haack in earning first-team Pac-12 All-Academic honors.
Haack, one of the nation's best punters, appeared on the All-Pac-12 Second Team following a season where he carded 66 punts for 2,897 yards. His 43.9 yards per punt ranked 19th nationally and included a career long 76-yard punt.
Moeakiola earned third-team All-Pac-12 honors after finishing his 2016 campaign with 55 total tackles while adding nine pass breakups and one interception that all but sealed a Sun Devil victory in San Antonio over UTSA. He received All-Pac-12 honorable mention accolades, marking his second all-conference honor after receiving post-season accolades following the 2014 season.
The NFF Hampshire Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. Gammage, Haack and Moeakiola are among a total of 1,089 players from 297 schools qualified for membership in the society's 11th year, both new single-year records in the history of the program.

Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include:
- Being a starter or a significant contributor in one's last year of eligibility (or a senior who has declared for the NFL Draft) at an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university
- Achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study
- Meeting all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements
