TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona State women's gymnastics team (3-8, 1-5 Pac-12) knocked off the No. 23 Arizona Wildcats (6-7, 1-5 Pac-12) Sunday afternoon in the McKale Center, 195.700-195.375. The Gym Devils earned their first Pac-12 regular season victory since February 2014, which also came against the Wildcats.

"I'm really proud of the team and how they fought through all the way to the end," said head coach Jay Santos. "This was a big win for us and it was great to be able to give Beka (Conrad), our only senior, a win against the team down south."

"Obviously we are thrilled with the win today against Arizona! Although we had a few shaky routines today, we had several amazing performances that were able to keep us on track and stay in front of Arizona. We started pretty well on bars and vault today but definitely had some struggles on floor that we need to clean up.  Beam was huge for us tonight with the last few routines really coming up big.  We talked this week about being able to win a meet on the road on beam and that is exactly what they were able to do."

Usually a tough event to finish a meet on, the Gym Devils came out stronger than ever and hit a 49.150 on beam to seal the victory. The event was highlighted by junior Nichelle Christopherson's career high 9.900, the best score of the meet on the event. Sophomore Katelyn Lentz also hit a career high 9.875 for second while freshman Ashley Szafranski and sophomore Heather Udowitch added a pair of 9.800s.

The Gym Devils posted a season high 49.025, for the first 49+ on bars since Feb. 2015, also in Tucson against the Wildcats. Christopherson once again led the team with her season high 9.875. Sophomores Morgan Wilson and Eileen Imbus hit their own career highs, 9.850 and 9.825, respectively. Szafranski went 9.800 for her third consecutive 9.8+ on the season.

A 48.850 team score on vault was another season high for the Gym Devils, paced by Wilson's second career high of the day, a 9.850. Lentz added a career high 9.825 while freshman Jessica Ginn posted a 9.800. Wilson won the event and Lentz tied for second.

Lentz tied her career high with a 9.850 on floor to contribute to the Gym Devils' 48.675 event total. Christopherson scored a 9.775 and freshman Morgan Hart returned to the line-up recording a 9.750.

Christopherson scored a career best 39.150 to win the all-around competition.

With the victory, ASU earns the Territorial Cup point for gymnastics regains control of the lead in the series, 6.5-6.

Up next, the Gym Devils will compete in Wells Fargo Arena for the last time in 2017 for a non-conference tri-meet with Sacramento State and Bridgeport on Friday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. MT. The meet will be livestreamed via TheSunDevils.com. ASU will honor lone-senior Beka Conrad at the conclusion of the meet.
