KAPALUA, HAWAI'I – The No. 4 Arizona State women's golf team earned their fifth consecutive top-two finish, sixth of the season, finishing in second place at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.
"I am pleased with our second place finish and three players in the top six," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "Monica turned it on coming down the stretch, which helped her to a runner-up finish."
For the second consecutive day, ASU shot the second lowest round of the tournament, finishing +5 (869) overall for the three-day event. No. 7 UCLA claimed the top spot (-12/852), paced by individual leader Lilia Vu.
"UCLA played well and deserved to win. We have a few things to work on when we get home to prepare for the PING/ASU Invitational next weekend and I am confident this team will be ready."
This week marked the third straight tournament the Sun Devils have had the runner-up individually, as Monica Vaughn shot her lowest round of the tournament (68) on day three to finish second (-5/211).
Freshman Olivia Mehaffey earned her second straight top-10 finish, finishing fifth (-1/215), while Linnea Strom also earned her third straight top-10 finish, in a tie for sixth (E/216).
Playing as an individual, Roberta Liti, finished just inside the top-30, in a tie for 29th, while Sophia Zeeb (T-34th) and Madison Kerley (T-39th) rounded out the Sun Devils' official five-member squad.
ASU returns home to Tempe to host their own tournament, the 45th annual PING/ASU Invitational next weekend (Apr. 7-9) at ASU Karsten Golf Course.
