TEMPE, Ariz.— Following Arizona State's first Pac-12 championship since 2006, the Sun Devils earned five individual spots at the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling championships - Josh Maruca (149), Josh Shields (157), Anthony Valencia (165), Zahid Valencia (174), and Tanner Hall (HWT). The championships will take place from Thursday, Mar. 16 - Saturday, Mar. 18 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis (1401 Clark Ave. St. Louis, Mo. 63103).

Television/Streaming
For the first time, all prime-time NCAA DI Wrestling championships sessions will be on ESPN. ESPNU will air the First Round, Quarterfinals, and Medal Round while ESPN will televise the Second Round, Semifinals, and Finals. Jim Gibbons, Tim Johnson, and ASU alum Anthony Robles, as well as Billy Baldwin will serve as analysts on the broadcasts. Additionally, ESPN3 will stream every single mat and match during all six sessions, allowing fans to follow any wrestler from any school.
THE ROAD TO UNDEFEATED
With a perfect 33-0 record going into this week's NCAA championships, redshirt freshman Zahid Valencia enters this weekend's championships still undefeated in his first year of competition. Since freshmen were allowed to compete starting in 1969, according to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Cael Sanderson (Iowa State) and Isaiah Martinez (Illinois) are believed to be the only freshmen to go undefeated during a full collegiate season.
FOUR SUN DEVILS SEEDED
Four of five Sun Devils competing in St. Louis were seeded No. 9 or higher, highlighted by Zahid Valencia, the No. 1 wrestler at 174 lbs. Tanner Hall (HWT) and Anthony Valencia (165 lbs.) were seeded No. 7 in their respective weight classes while Josh Shields (157 lbs.) was seeded No. 9.
