TEMPE, Ariz. – After finishing in second, just one stroke out of the top spot, at mid-February's Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, the No. 4 Arizona State women's golf team opens the month of March at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (Mar. 3-5) in Hilton Head, S.C.

At Northrop Grumman, the Sun Devils also won the regional crown, finishing ahead of the rest of their five-team regional group – No. 5 Alabama, UNLV, No. 18 Oklahoma State, and No. 17 Arizona.

The Sixth Annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate will be held at the par-71, 6,160 yard Pete Dye Course at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.

The 17-team field consists primarily of SEC and ACC teams, with the Sun Devils participating as the sole representative for the Pac-12. Alabama (2012, 2013, 2016) and Duke (2014, 2015) have combined to win the first five years of the tournament.

Teeing off this week alongside ASU are four other members of the Golfweek top-10 and 10 total teams from the top-25 including No. 5 Alabama, No. 8 Furman, No. 9 Georgia, No. 10 Wake Forest, host-No. 11 South Carolina, No. 12 Duke, No. 13 Arkansas, No. 18 Oklahoma State, No. 20 Baylor, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.

The Sun Devils competed in the tournament three straight seasons (2013-15), with their highest team finish coming in 2013 in fourth place. Individually, ASU's Noemi Jimenez won the tournament in 2013 while Dani Ordonez finished in the top five (T4th). Jimenez also posted top-five finishes the next two seasons (T3 in 2014, T5 in 2015).

Representing the Sun Devils are Olivia Mehaffey, Linnea Strom, Sophia Zeeb, Roberta Liti, and Madison Kerley this weekend. Mehaffey and Strom rank in the top-11 in the most recent Women's World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).
