#10THINGS (Twitter-Friendly Notes)

1. Tuesday afternoon's contest will be the first broadcast on @Pac12Network this season, with Daron Sutton on the call.

2. Eight true freshmen made their Sun Devil Debuts on opening weekend, including six that made their first career starts. 

3. .@ASU_Baseball drove in the GW run in the 8th or later twice on Opening Weekend after doing so 10 times in 2016.

4. Jeremy McCuin became first Devil to have 8+ assists in a regulation game since James McDonald in 2013. 

5. .@ASU_Baseball is 15-11 all-time against @OSUBaseball and 123-77 all-time against the @Big12Conference.

6. The Sun Devil pitching staff allowed just three earned runs on the weekend, a 1.00 ERA that's tied for second in the @pac12.

TEMPE -- Sun Devill Baseball continues the 2017 season with its first midweek contest of the season, an afternoon tilt against 2016 College World Series participant No. 20 Oklahoma State on Tuesday at 1 p.m. MT at Phoenix Municipal Stadium,

Follow the Action

  • The game will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks with Daron Sutton on the call alongside Scott Erickson. 
  • The game will also be aired live through Sun Devil Sports Network on 100.7 KSLX with the Voice of the Sun Devils, Tim Healey on the call alongside analyst Max Rossiter.
  • Fans are also encouraged to follow along on Twitter (@ASU_Baseball) for live updates throughout the contest. 

Scouting the Cowboys

  • The two programs are no strangers to each other, with ASU leading the all-time series, 15-11. ASU opened the 2015 season against a then No. 5 Oklahoma State squad, taking two of three in the series - including an exciting walk-off home run victory in 10 inngs courtesy of Colby Woodmansee on Opening Day in the Devils' first game in its return to Phoenix Muni Stadium. 
  • OSU opened up the season against Grand Canyon this past weekend, dropping two of three in the series. 
  • The Cowboys are coming off a 43-22 season in which they advanced to the College World Series for the 20th time in program history, making their first trip to Omaha since 1999 and finishing fourth. Seven starters return from a year ago, led by corner infielders Garrett Benge and Dustin Williams, while Preseason All-American Tyler Buffett, along with Trey Cobb and Jensen Elliott, return to anchor the pitching staff.
  • The 2017 season marks OSU's fifth under head coach Josh Holliday, who has compiled a 170-79 record at his alma mater and led the Cowboys to four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

Devils vs. Big 12

  • The Sun Devils are 123-77 all-time against programs currently in the Big 12 Conference.
  • ASU will see plenty of the conference this weekend, heading on its first road trip of the season this weekend to take on top-ranked TCU in Dallas in a three-game series beginning Friday. 

Streaking in February

  • The Devils are 19-3 in series' played in the month of February over the past 12 years and have won 11 consecutive series on Opening Weekend.
  • ASU had won 16 consecutive February series until dropping a three-game series against top-ranked TCU Feb. 20-22, 2015. Prior to that, the last time was Feb. 18-20, 2005 when they were swept by No. 1 Tulane on the road.

Keeping It Interesting

  • The Devils had a knack for success in close games last season and that continued on Opening weekend. The Sun Devils scored the winning run in the eighth inning or later twice on the weekend, including one walk-off win. 
  • In 2016, the Devils went 6-1 in extra-inning games, had four walk-off wins and went 12-1 in one-run games including 5-1 in Pac-12 play. ASU drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning or later 10 times.
  • Arizona State notched seven wins in 2016 when trailing after six innings.
