TEMPE, Ariz. – The #14 Sun Devil women's golf team opens their spring tournament season this weekend at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. (Feb. 12-14) which features 11 of the nation's top 25 teams.

Two weeks ago, ASU played a two-team dual vs. Denver at Superstition Mountain, shooting a team-low single round 10-under-par 278 to Denver's 304. Roberta Liti and Madison Kerley led the way for ASU, each shooting a career-low 67.

This weekend's tournament broken into three five-team regions plus No. 9 Wake Forest competing as an individual team. The 16-team field features six Pac-12 teams alongside ASU including USC, UCLA, Washington, Cal, and Arizona.

No. 16 Duke, No. 8 Florida, No. 17 Northwestern, Tennessee, and host No. 22 Ohio State compete in the East Region while No. 4 USC, No. 5 UCLA, Washington, San Diego State, and California compete in the West Region. The Sun Devils are paired with No. 2 Alabama, No. 20 Arizona, UNLV, and No. 18 Oklahoma State in the Central Region.

A Regional winner will be determined from each of the three regions while an overall team and individual champion will also be crowned. At last season's Northrop Grumman Challenge, Monica Vaughn won her first individual victory at ASU after starting the final round five strokes out of the lead.

Representing the Sun Devils' five-member team this weekend will be Olivia Mehaffey (No. 5), Linnea Strom (No. 9), Vaughn (No. 17), Sophia Zeeb, and Roberta Liti, the first three of which are all ranked in the top-20 among Women's World Amateur Golf rankings.

ASU capped the fall season on a high note, winning the Pac-12 Preview in Hawai'i, considered to be an early indication and determination of this spring's Pac-12 championships. Strom and Vaughn led the team with two top-10 finishes apiece during the fall season, also both leading the team with a season-low single round (66).
