The Arizona State Sun Devil men's golf team finished the Amer Ari Invitational strong to place fourth in the at the Kings' Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort. Texas Tech took home the tournament followed by USC, Oregon, and Arizona State. ASU made the push to fourth after being tied for seventh to start the day by posting the best final round of any team in the field.
The individual medal came down to the wire with a three-way tie between Rico Hoey of USC, Fredrik Nilehn of Texas Tech and Sun Devil captain Jared du Toit. After a one hole playoff, Nilehn took home the prize. This gives du Toit an impressive fourth top ten finish this year and his ninth as a Sun Devil.
The Sun Devils Improved their play each of the three days posting a 286 and finishing tied for ninth on the first day, a 279 and seventh play finish on day two, and a 276 and fourth place to finish.
Freshman Chun (Kevin) An Yu had an impressive first collegiate tournament, as the twelfth ranked amateur in the world finished six-under and tied for 20th overall.
Fellow freshman Alejandro Del Rey Gonzalez had a big round three including back-to-back eagles on holes five and six to start his day.
Freshman Blake Wagoner and senior Nicolo Galletti finished tied in the tournament each at eight over par and 96th overall.
