The @ASUMensGolf team came out on fire on day two of the 26th annual Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii at the Kings' Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort.
The Sun Devils, who came into today tied for ninth and shot a 2-under 286 Thursday, pushed up all the way to third before settling for seventh after two rounds as it improved by seven strokes from the first day. The tournament concludes Saturday with 18 holes.
The top golfer for ASU Friday was freshman Chun (Kevin) An Yu, who posted a 4-under 68 with six birdies, followed by both Jared du Toit and Alejandro Del Rey Gonzalez who both finished at 2-under 70. Yu, who just joined the team last month, is playing in his first collegiate tournament and is already ranked 12th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Jared du Toit also continues his stellar season and is sitting in the top-five as an individual. If du Toit can hold his spot in round three it will be his ninth top-10 finish as a Sun Devil. The senior tallied birdies on holes 2, 3, 4, and 15.
Senior Nicolo Galletti also found his way under par in round two carding a one-under 71. Galletti sits 4-over par 148 (77-71) heading into round three of the tournament.
Freshman Blake Wagoner tallied a 2-over par and is now eight-over par (78-74) in total for the tournament.
