DENVER – The Arizona State gymnastics team continued the 2017 season on the road Saturday night, hitting new season highs on three events and finishing second in the Denver Quad Meet with a total 193.275. No. 7 Denver finished in first with a 196.350. Texas Women's University finished in third with a 192.125 while Air Force came in fourth with a 189.900.

"We saw a lot of improvement from last week," said head coach Jay Santos. "Three of the four events made good strides and corrections and we need to continue to build off of that in the coming weeks. We also saw several great individual performance today - Nichelle (Christopherson) came through big for us on bars and beam.  We had a couple athletes that have been working hard to come back from injuries- Eileen (Imbus) did a great job on bars and Heather (Udowitch) did a great job on beam."
 
Starting the meet off on bars, the Gym Devils hit a season high 48.550 led by junior Nichelle Christopherson's own season high 9.825. Freshman Ashley Szafranski posted a career best 9.775 and not far behind was sophomore Eileen Imbus' 9.750.
 
The Gym Devils saw huge improvement and lots of stuck landings on beam for a team total 48.575. Christopherson once again led the way with a career high 9.850. Senior Beka Conrad followed with a 9.775 while sophomores Heather Udowitch and Justine Callis each posted 9.750s.
 
On vault the Gym Devils posted a season high 48.600, led by freshman Jessica Ginn's career high 9.800. Sophomore Katelyn Lentz followed with a 9.725 and freshman Morgan Hart recorded a season best 9.700.
 
Hart led the team on floor with career high 9.800 to contribute to the 47.550 event total.
 
Christopherson scored a 38.250 in her first all-around appearance for the Sun Devils.
 
Up next, the Gym Devils return home to Wells Fargo Arena for their home opener against UC Davis. The meet is slated for a 4 p.m. MT start on Saturday, Jan. 21 and will be live streamed on TheSunDevils.com.
