The Arizona State men's golf team is headed to Windermere, Florida for the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational. The tournament takes place October 16-18 with 18 holes to be played each day is played at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club on a 7,544 yard course originally designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay and redesigned by Steve Smyers in 2003.
The Sun Devils will compete against tough competition including two in conference rivals California and Arizona. The rest of the field includes Illinois, Augusta, Texas Tech, Florida, New Mexico, Vanderbilt, Purdue, UNC, North Florida, Alabama-Birmingham, and host schools Central Florida and North Texas.
The Sun Devils finished second in the Tavistock Invitational last year with Jon Rahm and Max Rotluff finishing first and second. Senior Jared du Toit is the only Sun Devil from last year's starting lineup that will be competing again this year. The rest of the starting line of consists of Ki Taek Lee, Blake Wagoner, Alex Del Rey Gonzalez, and Anthony Truong.
SO FAR THIS SEASON…
The Sun Devils will come into the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational with all the momentum after winning their last time out at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational. The Sun Devils had finished second the the tournament the two previous season and were finally able to dethrone host school California-Berkeley who had won and impressive seven consecutive.
Senior Ki Taek Lee has burst into the spotlight to start the year with an impressive first two tournaments. Lee opened the year with his best tournament as a Sun Devils posting a one under 209 (67-73-69) and finishing second overall. He then came into the Alister MacKenzie Invitational and shattered his personal record from the previous week shooting a 198 (66-64-68) and finishing tied for first, helping the Sun Devils to a team victory. Ki Taek Li is currently the 4th ranked collegiate golfer in the country according to Golfweek.
