TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State volleyball team (7-8, 0-3 Pac-12) fell in five sets to the No. 21 Oregon Ducks (10-2, 3-0 Pac-12), 21-25, 25-17, 26-24, 9-25, 7-15, on Friday night in Wells Fargo Arena.

In the 2016 home opener for the Sun Devils, 4,901 fans were in attendance, the second highest attendance since 1998. For the second straight year, ASU broke the student attendance record with 2,187 fans. The highest attendance since 1998 was 5,152 fans, including the previous student section record of 2,011 in 2015.

"I think it was unbelievable," head coach Stevie Mussie said. "To have 4900 people in the stands for a Friday night game at 6 p.m. it just shows how big of a deal volleyball is at Arizona State."

Sophomore Lexi MacLean led the Sun Devils with 13 kills and freshman Ivana Jeremic followed close behind with 12 kills, hitting a team-high .360 in the match. Junior Oluoma Okaro added 10 kills of her own and three blocks.

Junior Halle Harker had 15 digs on night, bringing her career total to 1,168, 53 away from breaking into ASU's top-10 list.

Oregon's Lindsey Vander Weide led all scorers with 17 kills while Taylor Agost added 14 of her own.

The Sun Devils will return to Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday, Oct. 2; hosting the Oregon State Beavers at 11 a.m. PT. The match will air on the Pac-12 Network.
