ALBUQUERQUE—The Arizona State volleyball team (2-1) wrapped the UNM Tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Abilene Christian (0-3), 25-21, 25-21, 25-18, on Saturday at the Johnson Center.

Senior Maya McClendon posted the first Sun Devil double-double of 2016 with 13 kills and 14 digs. She also hit .393 for the match. Junior Oluoma Okaro, sophomore Jasmine Koonts, and freshman Ivana Jeremic teamed up for 22 kills.

"Overall, it was a win," head coach Stevie Mussie said. "It was a win for the team that put us at 2-1. Maya had a great match, rebounding from the night before with 13 kills and 14 digs. I'm excited for her to get into her groove as a Sun Devil and thought Ivana Jeremic did a nice job as well."

Defensively, Koonts led the way with four blocks, three of them on her own to tie her career best for solo blocks. Okaro and sophomore Kylie Pickrell also picked up three block assists apiece.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, Okaro was named UNM Tournament MVP, while Pickrell was also named to the All-Tournament team.

"Next weekend is going to be a good test for us," Mussie said. "Iowa is a Big Ten team and Butler and Oakland are also from good conferences, well coached and with systems in place to be successful. We have to be ready to play. I think if we focus on what we're doing on our side of the net, then we give ourselves a chance."

Up next, the Sun Devils travel to Iowa City for the Iowa Tournament, Sept. 2-3. On Friday, the Sun Devils will take on Butler at Noon PT/2 p.m. CT, followed by a match against the host Hawkeyes at 5 p.m. PT/7 p.m. CT.
