Eugene, Oregon – Wrapping up his illustrious collegiate career on a high note, Arizona State senior Jon Rahm tied for third at the 2016 NCAA Championships Monday afternoon. Firing a final round one-over 71 at the host par-70, 7014-yard Eugene Country Club, Rahm finished at a 72-hole total 279 (-1) as the Sun Devils finished ninth, four shots out of match play.
TOP 10: ASU's ninth-place finish was its 13th in the past 24 seasons (1993-2016), second-most in the nation behind only Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State who have done at 15 times in that span. Clemson and Texas have 11 top-10 finishes in that same time frame.
The late tee time proved to be tough for the Sun Devils, who struggled late along with playing partners California and Oklahoma State. The teams were 7-8-9 heading into the final round, but all finished outsidet he top eight after shooting their worst rounds in tough winds and playing on faster greens.
ASU's top-10 finish was its 34th since 1947, behind only Oklahoma State (57) and Houston (36) in that time.
By virtue of garnering his 13th top-10 finish of the 2015-16 campaign, Rahm becomes the second player in Arizona State history, and the first since Chris Hanell in 1997, to record a top-10 finish in every outing in a season.

Texas (+14), Illinois (+15), LSU (+16), USC (+17), Vanderbilt (+17), Oregon (+19), South Carolina (+22), and Oklahoma (+24) will advance to compete in the tournament's match play championship, determining the team title.
