CORVALLIS – The Arizona State University softball team fell into a 3-0 hole in the first inning of Friday’s contest against Oregon State and was ultimately unable to rally in a tough 4-3 loss.
Jennifer Soria was 2-for-4 with an RBI, a triple and run scored while Sashel Palacios also went 2-for-4 in the contest. But the Sun Devils stranded eight batters in the contest and were unable to find the big hit when they needed it most.
Dale Ryndak (8-6) took the loss for ASU, despite settling in after a tough first inning. Kelsey Kessler pitched three nearly flawless innings in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out another in 3.0 innings pitched.
The series finale – and the ASU regular season finale – is scheduled for a 12 p.m. PT first pitch tomorrow.
