LAS VEGAS – Infielder David Greer tallied two doubles, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored to power Sun Devil Baseball to a 6-4 win against UNLV on Tuesday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas.

Arizona State scored runs in each of the first four innings for a quick 6-1 lead. UNLV used three two-out runs across the fifth and sixth innings to pull within two, but left-hander Eli Lingos and right-hander Eder Erives stranded six runners on base in the final four frames to close out the victory.

Greer accounted for four of the Sun Devils’ (29-16) runs, and his Pac-12 leading 22 doubles are the most by a Sun Devil since Riccio Torrez’s 27 in 2010. Right fielder Gage Canning singled in the top of the fourth to extend his streak of reaching base safely to a team-high 23 games.

Starting right-hander Jordan Aboites (4-1) scattered four runs on eight hits and a walk, and struck out six in 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win. Erives (6) earned his sixth save of the year behind a pair of scoreless frames.

Greer drove the second pitch he saw over the wall in left-center field for a solo home run and a quick one-run lead for the Devils in the opening frame.

Catcher Brian Serven put the Devils back on top, 3-1, as he scored a run in the second and drove one in a run in the third. He reached second on a throwing error and came home on a wild pitch before he plated Greer, who doubled off the wall, in the ensuing inning with a RBI single.

A three-run top of the fourth stretched ASU’s lead to five, 6-1. Canning stepped to the dish following a pair of walks and brought home left fielder Tyler Williams with a base hit to center field, and Greer laced his second double of the night to score both runners.

Aboites tossed three straight scoreless innings before UNLV tallied a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth. He delivered consecutive strikeouts after he allowed a single and a walk to start the sixth, and made way to Lingos, who allowed one run on a walk and a wild pitch but issued a groundout to strand two and end the rally.

Erives escaped a bases-loaded jam in the eighth and kept the Devils’ two-run lead intact. A couple of walks and a double off the wall put the go-ahead run on first base with one out, but Erives induced a pop fly to shortstop Colby Woodmansee and a lineout to Canning.
