TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Football offensive lineman Christian Westerman and wide receiver Devin Lucien were taken in the fifth and seventh round, respectively, on the third day of the 2016 National Football League draft.

Westerman was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 161st overall pick in the fifth round and Lucien went to the New England Patriots with the 225th overall pick in the seventh round.

Nine Sun Devils have been taken in the three NFL drafts that have taken place since head coach Todd Graham took over the program. Westerman joins Jamil Douglas as the second Sun Devil offensive lineman under Assistant Head Coach (offensive line) Chris Thomsen to be drafted, and Lucien is the second wide receiver selected, along with Jaelen Strong, under assistant coach DelVaughn Alexander.

Westerman, who is from Chandler, Ariz., was a two-time All-Pac-12 honoree and started 25 games at Arizona State. He was part of the foundation of an offensive line that paved the way for back-to-back 1,000-yard rushers and earned the team’s prestigious Randall McDaniel Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award this past season.

Lucien was a graduate transfer from UCLA and spent just one year at ASU, but made the most of his time as he led the team with 1,075 receiving yards and eight touchdown on 66 catches. He tallied four 100-yard receiving games, including three consecutive to close out his career, and collected 21 receptions for 534 yards and five touchdowns in those final three games. He earned Bob Moran Territorial Cup Game MVP honors and was the team’s John Jefferson Outstanding Receiver recipient.
