TEMPE Twenty-four members of the Arizona State University swimming and diving teams earned Pac-12 Conference All-Academic honors, the conference announced Friday.

The number of student-athletes honored year-to-year improves by 33 percent under first-year head coach Bob Bowman and staff, as the 2014-15 season presented 18 total honorees for the Sun Devil program.

On the men’s side, four Sun Devils were named as first-team selections. Senior Hunter Atha had the highest GPA for the Sun Devils with a 3.99 followed by sophomore Heikki Makikallio’s 3.96. Junior Richard Bohus and senior Juan Tolosa added a 3.89 and a 3.78, respectively, to also join the first-team honorees.

This is the second-straight year Atha received first team honors.

Junior Jose Garcia Mesa, sophomore David Hoffer, senior Sean Kao and junior Cole Miller all earned second-team honors. Juniors Reid Elliott, Joshua Lamb, Brandon Mills, Aidan O’Hara and sophomore Christian Lorenz received honorable mentions.

For the women, the sophomore duo of Ivana Ninkovic and Anna Olasz were named as first-team selections, recording GPAs of 3.85 and 3.76, respectively.

Senior Jennifer Morgan and juniors Katarina Simonovic and Cheyenne DeGraff earned second-team honors, while senior Marina Spadoni, sophomore Mara Aiacoboae, senior Jamie Friderichs, and juniors Alysha Bush, Indira Ceranic, and Ingibjorg Jonsdottir received honorable mentions.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team’s scheduled regular season events.
