TEMPE, Ariz. – Head Coach Zeke Jones and the 2015-16 Arizona State wrestling team invite Sun Devil wrestling alumni and members of the wrestling community to come and honor their accomplishments of another successful season at the Arizona State Wrestling Postseason Awards Banquet.
The program will be on Thursday, April 21 at the Phoenix Country Club from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
For the second straight year, six Sun Devils qualified for the NCAA meet, including redshirt senior Blake Stauffer at 184 pounds, who qualified for the fourth time in his career. First time NCAA qualifiers included junior Dalton Brady (133 pounds), sophomore Robbie Mathers (141 pounds), redshirt senior Josh DaSilveira (197 pounds), and freshman Tanner Hall (Heavyweight).
Three Arizona State wrestlers won conference titles this season, propelling the Sun Devils to their second consecutive second place finish at the Pac-12 Championships on Feb. 27 at Wells Fargo Arena. Dalton Brady captured the 133 pound title, Blake Stauffer defended his title at 184 pounds, and Josh DaSilveira took the 197 pound crown.
Other accolades included three members of the Arizona State wrestling team were named to the 2016 Pac-12 All-Academic teams, featuring Senior Ares Carpio who was a member of the first team. Freshman heavyweight Tanner Hall was named to The Open Mat’s 2016 All-Freshman Team.
Tickets are $40 and include heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony and a video presentation recapping the 2015-2016 season.
