TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 11 Arizona State women’s golf team finds itself in second-place after two rounds of play at the 2016 PING/ASU Invitational hosted at ASU Karsten Golf Club (par-72/6,337 yards). Recording a cumulative six-under 282, the Sun Devils at seven-under for the tournament, sit just one shot off the lead.

“I am extremely pleased with how the team did today.” said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. ”The girls have practiced really well this past week. I am really happy for them, as their hard work is starting to pay off.”

Continuing to pace the Sun Devils, freshman Linnea Strom recorded a one-under, 74 to move to four-under for the tournament. In fourth heading into the final day, Strom birdied three of the first six holes, putting her in position to compete for the individual title.

Monica Vaughn flipped the script on what was a tough first-day outing for the junior carding a four-under, 68 to improve to one-under for the tournament.

Another Sun Devil, Sophia Zeeb, is battling for a top-10 spot after finishing even on the day. Zeeb is tied for seventh with her teammate Monica Vaughn

After a tough first round, freshman Madison Kerley came storming back in the second, finishing at one-under for the day. Kerley finished strong with an eagle on 17 and a birdie on 18.

Roberta Liti ended the day at four-over after shooting a 76. She birdied 5 and 14, ending today tied for 35th.

PING/ASU INFORMATION FACTS

TEAMS: Alabama, Arizona State, Arizona, Baylor, Colorado, Denver, Hawaii, Northwestern, Oregon State, Texas, UCLA, UNLV, Washington, Washington State 

FORMAT: On Saturday, April 9, teams will tee-off from 8:00 a.m. to 10:06 a.m. (PT) on holes #1 and #10. On Sunday, April 10, play will begin with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. 

2015 TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL CHAMPION: Arizona, 861 (-3). Arizona State's Monica Vaughn and Texas's Bertine Strauss shared individual medalist honors each finishing at 6-under 210.
