TEMPE, Ariz. -- The No. 11 Arizona State women’s golf team is set to host the 2016 PING/ASU Invitational April 8-10, at the par-72, 6337-yard Karsten Golf Course.

“We are excited about hosting our only home event of the year,” said head women’s golf coach Missy Farr-Kaye. “Our team has been working hard preparing to play at home and is ready to go! We have a great field and encourage our fans to come out and watch.”

The tournament boasts an exceptional field, featuring seven of the top-25 teams in the country, four of which are in the top-10. Joining the No. 11 Sun Devils will be No. 1 Alabama, No. 10 Arizona, Baylor, Colorado, Denver, Hawaii, No. 4 Northwestern, Oregon State, Texas, No. 3 UCLA, No. 17 UNLV, No. 13 Washington, and Washington State (Golfstat, 4/5/16).

Junior Monica Vaughn will seek to garner her second-consecutive title at the PING/ASU invitational, having shared individual honors with Texas’s Bertine Strauss last spring. Rated as the No. 11 Amateur in the World according to the latest WAGR Women’s Rankings, Vaughn has had a tremendous 2015-16 season. In seven events the Reedsport, Oregon native has posted six top-10 finishes including a first-place finish at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge (Feb. 7-9).

Competing alongside Vaughn will be freshmen Linnea Strom and Madison Kerley, and sophomores Sophia Zeeb and Roberta Liti.

Golfing in the No. 1 spot for the Maroon and Gold, Linnea Strom looks to build off a solid outing at the Wildcat Invitational in which she shot a season and career-best 6-under 210 (67-68-75) en route to a second-place finish. In what has been a remarkable freshman season for the Sun Devil newcomer, she has tallied four top-10 finishes, in her first seven collegiate events.

The Sun Devils will seek to capture their 20th all-time team title at the PING/ASU Invitational, having last won the event in 2007.

First round actions begins Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. (PT), with the Sun Devils slated to tee off on hole 10 at 8:54 with Alabama and Washington.
