RANCHO SANTA FE -- The Arizona State women's golf team continued play in the March Mayhem match-play tournament on Tuesday afternoon hosted by San Diego State.

As the #5-seed, the Sun Devils still had their second round against #4-seed Stanford to finish early on Tuesday at The Farms Golf Club. While the Devils rallied to tie it up down the stretch, the Cardinal ended up winning the tiebreaker to advance in the winner's bracket.

"I am very proud of how hard my team came out and fought this morning to finish up the match in a tie," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "They came super close to defeating the defending national champions."

Despite losing in the second round, ASU moved into the 5th-place bracket to take on #8-seed Oregon in the afternoon.

The Devils cruised to victory over the Ducks -- ranked No. 22 in the country -- clinching the match with a 3-1 finish.

Sophomore Sophia Zeeb brought home the first win, taking her match against Caroline Inglis by the 14th hole going up five. Zeeb put together four birdies through the 14-hole match.

Youngster Madison Kerley earned the second victory for ASU, winning her match 3 & 2 over Kathleen Scavo. Like Zeeb, she also tallied four birdies as well over the course of her 16 holes.

While junior Monica Vaughn was the only Devil to lose a match, she still put together a round with 13 pars in 15 holes. Cathleen Santoso of Oregon compiled two birdies and pars on the two holes Vaughn shot over par to clinch the match on hole 15.

The women advanced to the fourth round for the 5th-place match against host San Diego State. They will tee off on Wednesday at 7:45 a.m. PT.
