AUBURN, Ala.—The Arizona State gymnastics team finished second to No. 7 Auburn on Friday night at Auburn Arena, 197.175 to 193.275.
Leading the way for the Gym Devils was senior Taylor Allex, who scored a 9.900 on vault for the fourth time this season, tying for first in the event. This marks the sixth time she’s finished in or tied for first on vault, and the 10th time overall this season.
Also on vault, freshman Heather Udowitch led off for the Gym Devils, posting a 9.575, a new season high. Senior Allie Salas posted a 9.825 on vault for the second straight week.
Udowitch also posted a new season high on beam, posting a 9.800 and surpassing her previous best of 9.775, which she initially set at Stanford on Feb. 8, repeated against California, and also scored last week at Penn State.
On floor, Allex led the way with a 9.875, followed by Salas’ 9.825. Junior Beka Conrad competed on floor for the first time this season, posting a 9.475.
On bars, senior Carissa Kraus tied for third overall with a 9.850, tying her season best, which she previously set on Feb. 15 against California, while Allex and Conrad posted matching 9.775s to wrap the night for ASU on beam.
Auburn’s Caitlin Atkinson won the all-around competition with a 39.725, while freshman Corinne Belkoff followed in second, Udowitch in third, and Salas in fourth.
Up next for the Gym Devils is the 2016 Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, March 19 in Seattle, Wash.
