La Quinta, Calif. – For a second-consecutive tournament Jon Rahm and Jared du Toit recorded top-10 finishes, as the No. 9 Arizona State men’s golf team closed at 8-under 844 (287-269-288) to finish runner-up at the 16th annual Prestige at PGA WEST, hosted at the Par-71 Greg Norman course.
The Sun Devils have now finished third or better in all six of their outings in the 2015-16 season.
By virtue of their second-place finish, Tim Mickelson’s squad garnered quality head-to-head victories over premier programs including No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 Duke, and No. 7 Southern California, and No. 25 San Diego State. (Rankings via Golfstat.com).
World Amateur No. 1, Jon Rahm, who in six tournament appearances over the course of the 2015-16 season has yet to finish outside of the top-10, carded a third-round two-under, 69 en route to a three-day total of eight-under, 205. The senior Sun Devil swinger who closed tied for third, now has 28 career top-10 finishes to his credit.
Continuing to shine for the Maroon and Gold is Jared du Toit. The junior notched a seventh-place finish marking his best as a Sun Devil, recording a tournament total four-under 209. Du Toit now has three-top finishes under his belt at Arizona State.
La Quinta native Ki Taek Lee had a strong showing in his home town, firing a three-day one-under, 212, to finish tied for 14th. After opening the third round carding a bogey followed by a triple-bogey, Lee rallied going four-under for the remainder of the afternoon.
Rounding out the Sun Devil starting five was senior Alberto Sanchez (T37/+6) and sophomore Tobias Eden (T57/+11).
