TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State gymnastics team continues to best its previous season highs, surpassing a team total of 194 for the second week in a row on Monday night in Wells Fargo Arena. The Sun Devils’ new season high of 194.725 was not quite enough, however, as the No. 15 California Bears posted a 196.900.
The Gym Devils posted a 49.200 on floor, surpassing a 49 for the first time this season. Senior Taylor Allex tied for first with a career high 9.950, the highest Sun Devil floor score since Natasha Sundby posted the same against NIU on March 14, 2014.
Senior Allie Salas also tied her career high on floor with a 9.850. Freshmen Heather Udowitch posted her own season high with a 9.800, and Corinne Belkoff tied hers from last week with a 9.875.
Bars also featured another season high for the Gym Devils. The 48.800 team score featured four season highs from the Gym Devils, all of which are the top Sun Devil scores this season. Senior Carissa Kraus had a team best and season high 9.850. Three freshmen also posted season highs on bars, including Katelyn Lentz’s 9.800, Eileen Imbus’ 9.775, and Belkoff’s 9.750.
Junior Beka Conrad led the Gym Devils on beam with a career high 9.825. Udowitch and Belkoff posted their own season highs, scoring a 9.775 and a 9.800, respectively.
Allex scored a team high 9.875 on vault, finishing second behind Cal’s Toni-Ann Williams.
Belkoff’s 38.875 all-around score was her fourth season best on the evening. This was the second consecutive week that Belkoff posted season highs on multiple events.
For Cal, Williams posted wins in each of the four rotations, and also scored a 39.700 in the all-around competition.
Up next the Gym Devils will take on the No. 20 Arizona Wildcats on Monday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. MT at Wells Fargo Arena. The meet will air live on the Pac-12 Networks.
