LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Arizona State track and field program started the 41st Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday hosted by the University of Nebraska, and redshirt sophomore Magdalyn Ewen threw to a first-place finish in the women's weight throw.
Ewen's toss of 19.89m (65-03.25) was by far her best of the season and was .03 meters short of her personal best set last season.
In the long jump, junior Keyasia Tibbs and freshman Jessica Barreira earned personal bests in the long jump with leaps of 5.53m (18-01.75) and 5.48m (17-11.75) respectively.
Freshman Sierra Irvin also picked up a personal best in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 56.04.
On the men's side, redshirt junior Kyle Long earned 10th place out of 27 competitors and a personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 18.30m (60-00.50) -- over half of a meter further than his previous best.
Redshirt senior Isaiah Underwood qualified for the men's 60-meter dash final on Saturday after sprinting to a time of 6.73 -- tied for his season's best set last weekend at the Mountain T's Invitational.
