TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State men and women's swim and dive squads host USC's No. 28 men and No. 21 women this Friday at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center at 11 a.m.
The men's team -- ranked No. 33 by CollegeSwimming.com -- is coming off back-to-back commanding victories over University of the Pacific and UNLV.
So far this season, the Sun Devil men have swept 10 of their events through two meets. While many of the men have been impressive thus far this season, sophomore Christian Lorenz has swept the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, while also helping the Devils sweep the 200-yard medley relay with teammates Reid Elliott, Tadas Duskinas and Patrick Park.
Duskinas has three victories on the season, with one in the 50-yard freestyle against Pacific, and the other two in the 100-yard butterfly. His 48.18 in the 100-yard butterfly against the Rebels on Oct. 24 made it inside the NCAA "B Standard" qualifying time of 48.29.
Like Lorenz, Park and senior Juan Tolosa have swept their two primary events as well. Park has two wins in both the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly, while Tolosa has capitalized in the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle. In the butterfly against UNLV, the sophomore made the "B Standard" qualifying of 1:47.99 with a time of 1:46.94.
On the women's side, junior Alysha Bush has been the woman to beat, as she's swept the 50- and 100-yard freestyle with six-straight victories. She's even helped anchor the women's 200-yard medley relay -- with teammates Ingibjorg Jonsdottir, Kaya Philapil and Marina Spadoni -- for back-to-back wins over Washington State and UNLV.
Fellow junior Kat Simonovic won the first two 200-yard freestyle events of the year before getting beat out by her junior teammate Indira Ceranic by .17 seconds against UNLV.
Senior Jennifer Morgan is two for three in the 200-yard backstroke, with the one being a third-place finish just over a second behind the victor from Washington State.
After the Sun Devils take on the Trojans on Friday, the women welcome UCLA while the men host Air Force on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.
