KAILUA KONA, Hawaii - While the Hawaiian islands are commonly a place for vacation, the Arizona State women's golf team is on a business trip for the Pac-12 Preview at Nanea Golf Club starting Monday, Nov. 2.
Ranked as one of the top 100 courses in America by Golf.com, the par-73 Nanea Golf Club is a private course that plays 7,490 yards from the tips with a 76.1 rating and slope of 138.
The Sun Devils -- ranked No. 13 by Golfweek.com and No. 15 by Golfstat.com -- will be appearing in their first tournament since the Stanford Intercollegiate nearly two weeks ago.
Freshman Madison Kerley -- ranked No. 37 by Golfweek -- highlighted that tournament for ASU, finishing in a tie for 23rd at five-over par.
Despite their finish in Stanford, head coach Missy Farr-Kaye continues to be impressed and encouraged by her young team's play and never-give-up attitude when facing adversity.
In each of their last two tournaments, the Devils have turned in a better combined round as a team than the day before. Their first tournament is the only time they shot a worse round on the second day, but they also bounced back to shave off 26 shots in round three for a third-place finish.
Farr-Kaye's team of two sophomores, two freshmen and a junior continue to adjust to their respective golf course during competition, and that will only continue to pay dividends throughout the season.
Four other Golfstat.com top-20 ranked teams will be competing in the Pac-12 Preview, including No. 3 UCLA, No. 9 Arizona, No. 18 California and No. 14 Washington. The other five participating teams are Colorado, Hawai’i, Washington State, Oregon and Oregon State.
The women will tee off Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. MST (7:30 a.m. HT) with 36 holes being played on day one. The final 18 of the tournament wrap up on Tuesday. You can follow live updates and scores on golfstat.com.
