TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State University women’s basketball team is ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press preseason poll, which was announced on Tuesday.

Today’s announcement comes five days after the Sun Devils were also selected No. 15 in the USA Today Sports Top 25 women’s basketball coaches’ poll.

The Sun Devils concluded the 2014-15 season ranked ninth in the Associated Press poll and eighth in the coaches’ poll after advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Last month the Sun Devils were picked to finish third in the Pac-12 by the league's coaches.

Six of ASU’s 2015-16 opponents are ranked in the preseason AP Top 25: South Carolina (second), Florida State (seventh), Oregon State (10th), Stanford (16th), Kentucky (18th) and Syracuse (23rd).

The Sun Devils return nine players, including four starters – senior guards Katie Hempen and Elisha Davis and junior posts Sophie Brunner and Kelsey Moos – from last year’s squad that won 29 games (second-highest total in school history).

The Sun Devils open the 2015-16 campaign on Sun., Nov. 15 (3:30 p.m. MT) when they take on No. 18/17 Kentucky in their special #KeepTheBeat game for heart-health awareness. Prior to the game the program will be hosting a special Heart Health Awareness Expo.
