KAILUA KONA, Hawai'i - After 36 holes on the first day of the Pac-12 Preview, the Sun Devil women's golf team is tied for the lead with No. 3 UCLA at nine-over par.
Just like the last two tournaments, Golfstat.com's No. 15 ranked team adjusted to the course and improved round to round, shaving nine shots off their first round with a even-par 292.
Head coach Missy Farr-Kaye has raved about her team's ability to adjust to the course as they play their second round. That continues to be the case for each of the Sun Devils.

"The conditions were very hard this afternoon and played like a totally different golf course the second time around," Farr-Kaye said. "As the conditions got harder we got better. It shows the toughness and resilence this team has. I'm very proud of their efforts and how much they fought back."
Junior Monica Vaughn -- the No. 36 ranked player in the country by Golfweek.com -- finished her day at even par, shooting a two-over 75 in her first round and a two-under 71 on the second round. That is all despite being under the weather.
"Monica is very sick and her effort was great today," Farr-Kaye said. "She didn't even play a practice round."
One thing that might have made her feel a little better was her eagle on the 18th, as she made the green in two on the 536-yard par 5 before making a nice putt. She's currently tied for third sick and all.
Her teammate freshman Madison Kerley -- ranked just behind her at No. 37 -- tallied a team-high four birdies in her secound 18 of the day for a one-under 72. She wrapped up her day at three-over par in a tie for 13th.
Vaughn has company in the top 10, as freshman Linnea Strom put together two great rounds for a combined one-over 147. The Sweden native earned six birdies during her 36-hole day on the islands.

Sophomores Sophia Zeeb and Roberta Liti came on strong during the second round, with Liti shooting a one-over 74 and Zeeb putting together a two-over 75.
"I'd like to see them continue to play where they left off this afternoon. Smart ascertive golf and with great confidence. if they stay within their game plan, we'll have a great outcome. Can't contorl outcome, can only control efforts. If they do that, I'm confident the rest will take care of itself."
ASU will encounter a much shorter day on Tuesday, finishing the tournament with just 18 holes. The Sun Devils have a shotgun start off the first hole at 7:30 a.m. in Hawai'i and 10:30 a.m. AZT.
