WINDERMERE, Fla. -- Sun Devil seniors Max Rottluff and Jon Rahm find themselves in contention heading into the final day of play at the Tavistock Invitational in Windermere, Fla. Rottluff and Rahm finished the afternoon as just 2-of-10 players in a field comprised of 15 teams and 75 players, to post rounds below-par.
Rottluff carded a two-under 70 in round two, placing the Sun Devil swinger in second. Through 13 Rottluff led the tournament, but a bogey on 15 dropped him back a spot. Currently the senior is six-under for the tournament and one shot off the leader Collin Morikawa of the University of California.
Fellow Sun Devil Jon Rahm closed the afternoon with a two-under 70, positioning him in third. It should come as no surprise that Rahm finds himself in contention heading into the final-18, as he has posted three top-10 finishes in all three events played this fall season. It is important to note, Rahm is just one victory away from tying Sun Devil Hall of Famer Billy Mayfair’s second-place mark in career wins at eight.
As a team the Sun Devils retained their third-place position, and posted a cumulative six-over 294 for the round. Currently the team sits 10 shots off the leader, conference rival Cal.
The Tavistock Invitational is slated to conclude tomorrow, Oct. 19, with teams set to tee-off at 8 am ET/ 11 am MST. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.com. Follow the team on Twitter at @asumensgolf for live updates from the event.
