WINDERMERE, Fla. – The tenth-ranked Arizona State men’s golf opened play at the Tavistock Invitational posting a cumulative three-under, 285. Currently the team sits in third, six shots off the lead.
The Sun Devils played well across the board. Senior Max Rottluff, who notched a 14th place finish this past week at the Alister MacKenzie, fired a first-round, 4-under 68 placing him tied for second. After opening the round with two-consecutive birdies, Rottluff managed three additional birdies and an eagle, to just three bogeys. Fellow senior Jon Rahm finished the day with a one-under 71. Rahm who has recorded three top-10 in three events on the season, is currently tied for ninth. Rahm and Rottluff mark just 2-of-16 players in the field of 75, to finish the afternoon under-par.
Sun Devil swingers Alberto Sanchez and Nicolo Galletti each carded one-over 73s, placing them tied for 20th. Junior Jared du Toit finished the round with a two-over 74. Currently du Toit sits tied for 30th.
