OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. – The Arizona State Men’s Golf team closed day two at the Fighting Illini/Olympia Fields Invitational in fifth place. At 13-over, the Sun Devils sit eight strokes back from the leader Stanford (5-over).
Senior Alberto Sanchez followed a first round 68 with an even par-70. The Nogales, Arizona native notched three birdies on the round. Sanchez remains in contention at 2-under par for the tournament and sits in third place, six shots off the lead.
After carding a 4-over 74 in round two, Jon Rahm dropped eight spots placing the senior tied for 15th. The World No. 1 Amateur is 3-over thru two rounds and is nine shots off the lead.
Jared du Toit carded a 3-over 73 for the second-consecutive round. The Sun Devil newcomer is 6-over par for the tournament.
