OLYMPIA FIELDS, III. – Sun Devil golfer Jon Rahm held off the No. 28 seed Cameron Young to advance to the Round of 16 in the 115th United States Amateur Championship at Olympia Fields Country Club, Thursday morning. Rahm got off to a hot-start early in the match, winning holes two and three, followed by victories at five and six. After winning four consecutive starting holes starting at the 9th, Rahm closed the match with a 7&6 victory.
You can currently catch the World No. 1 Amateur on FOX SPORTS 1 in the Round of 16. Rahm faces off against the No. 44 seed Daniel Wetterich.
Keep in my mind Rahm looks to become just the fourth Sun Devil to win the U.S. Amateur with Jeff Quinney (2000), Phil Mickelson (1990), and Billy Mayfair (1987) earning the honor.
