Rahm, last year’s winner of the prestigious Ben Hogan Award given to the best collegiate golfer, is currently ranked the No. 1 Amateur in the world. The Barrika, Spain native had a successful summer campaign defending his Spanish Amateur title in July. Fellow Sun Devil swinger Rottluff looks to build on an already impressive Sun Devil career during the 2015-16 season. Rottluff similar to Rahm bolsters an impressive resume, winning two tournaments while posting nine-top finishes in 14 tournaments this past season for the Sun Devils.

NEW FACES…

Jared du Toit will join the Sun Devils in 2015-16. A transfer from the University of Idaho, du Toit had an impressive sophomore season for the Vandals leading the team in scoring (69.61) while posting three wins including a first-place finish at the Big Sky Championship. The right-hander played well during the summer season, posting a sixth place finish in the Pacific Amateur tallying a 72-hole total of one-over-par.

OlYMPIA FIELDS INVITATIONAL…

Before the Sun Devils travel to Chicago, Illinois in September for the first tournament of the season, golfers Jon Rahm and Max Rottluff will already have gotten a feel for Olympia Country Club. The two are set to compete in next week’s U.S. Amateur hosted at Olympia Fields.  Rottluff and Rahm will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of three former Sun Devil U.S. Amateur Champions including Jeff Quinney (2000), Phil Mickelson (1990), and Billy Mayfair (1987). Other notable past winners include Bobby Jones (5x Winner), Tiger Woods (3x Winner), and Jack Nicklaus (2x Winner). The Championship consists of two days of stroke play, followed by knockout competition held at match play to decide the winner of the leading 64 competitors. For the first time the tournament will be held at Olympia Fields Country Club which has been the host of four major championships, twice serving as a U.S. Open venue.  FOX Sports 1 will kick of coverage of the Championship on Wednesday, August 19th from 3:00-6:00 PM EDT. Coverage will remain on FOX Sports 1 through Friday, with the Semifinals Match on Saturday, August 22nd and Finals Match on Sunday, August 23rd on FOX.

BEEN THERE DONE THAT…

Senior Jon Rahm will try for a three-peat at this year’s Thunderbird Invitational. This past season Rahm won the ASU-hosted event for a second-consecutive time shooting a 15-under 195 (65-64-66) to top teammate Rottluff by one. The right-hander will also look to repeat as an NCAA Regional Champion, after earning the honor at the San Diego Regional in 2014-15. Rahm led the field shooting a 72-hole total, 10-under-par helping the Sun Devils punch their ticket to the NCAA Championship.

Rising senior Max Rottluff will look to defend his title at this year’s Alister MacKenzie Invitational. Rottluff posted a first-place finish at the event last season shooting a nine-under 204 (68-66-70).
