CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Six Sun Devil women's golfers earned Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar honors, the WGCA announced Monday. A total of 758 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
Noemi Jimenez, Emilie Alonso, Monica Vaughn, Roberta Liti, Sophia Zeeb, and Ashleigh Greenham were named to the 2014-15 WGCA All-American Scholar Team.
Vaughn, who led the Sun Devil squad this season, racked up an impressive list of accolades during her sophomore season. In addition to making the WGCA All-American Scholar Team, Vaughn also earned WGCA First-Team All-American honors and First-Team Pac-12 All-Academic honors. Vaughn won her first collegiate title at the PING/ASU Invitational in April and recorded six top-10 finishes in the 2014-15 season. Her sophomore season culminated with a fifth-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships in Florida.
Also excelling both on the golf course and in the classroom, Jimenez recorded five top-10 finishes last season, including a fourth-place finish at the 2015 Pac-12 Championships, and was named the Pac-12 Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The former Sun Devil earned First-Team Pac-12 All-Academic honors while teammate and fellow grad Alonso earned Second-Team Pac-12 All-Academic honors.
