Boulder, Colo.—Noemi Jimenez recorded her fifth top-five finish of the season at the Pac-12 Women’s Golf Championships on Wednesday. The Arizona State senior finished in fourth place with a 4-under 209 (69-70-70) at the par-71, 6,407-yard Boulder Country Club.
“This was a wonderful final Pac-12 Championship for Noemi, especially being named the Pac-12 Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year,” said ASU head coach Melissa Luellen. “She finished with a birdie on the last hole to finish in fourth place. She had a great tournament and has had a great career. I could not be more proud of her diligence, her hard work, and her ability to be inspiring to her teammates.”
Oregon’s Caroline Inglis mounted a final-round surge, carding six birdies on the day, to earn Pac-12 medalist honors. Inglis was 7-under 206 through 54 holes and led the 55-player field in par-four scoring. Arizona’s Lindsey Weaver and UCLA’s Bronte Law tied for second, two strokes back from Inglis. Rounding out the top-five individuals, Jimenez took fourth while Colorado’s Alexis Keating and UCLA’s Erynne Lee tied for fifth. Jimenez was the only golfer to card two eagles in this year’s conference championships.
Fifth-ranked Arizona climbed two spots in the final round to overtake No. 28 Oregon for the Pac-12 team title. At 1-over 853 through three rounds, the Wildcats finished five strokes ahead of the second-place Ducks. No. 6 Washington finished in third place, while No. 3 UCLA and No. 39 Colorado placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Carding 10 birdies on the day, the Sun Devils posted their best score of the tournament in Wednesday’s final round. Improving its score each round, No. 18 Arizona State finished in ninth place with a 30-over 882 (304-290-288).
The Pac-12 Championships, arguably the most difficult conference championship in the country, boasts four of the top-seven teams in the NCAA. Nine of the 11 teams are ranked in the top 40, according to the latest Golfstat poll released on April 22, with all 11 Pac-12 schools ranked in the top 76 out of 262 Division I women’s golf programs nationwide.
The Sun Devils will learn their next destination on Monday, April 27, when the NCAA announces its Regional selections live on the Golf Channel. NCAA Regionals will take place May 7-9 in Raleigh, N.C., South Bend, Ind., San Antonio, Texas, and St. George, Utah. The NCAA Championship takes place May 22-27 in Bradenton, Fla.
