TEMPE, Ariz.-- The No. 33 Arizona State women’s tennis team defeated No. 51 Saint Mary’s College of California today in the first of three consecutive home matches at Whiteman Tennis Center.
"I thought we came out and jumped on them right away in the doubles especially on courts 1 and 3,” said ASU head coach Sheila McInerney, “That gave us good momentum going into the singles.”
The Sun Devils benefitted from No. 52 Desirae Krawczyk’s strengths in both singles and doubles. The junior defeated No. 70 Dani Flores and the No. 44 doubles team of McCord and Kaur alongside partner Stephanie Vlad.
“The girls played very efficiently in the singles and stayed on their opponents which was nice to see. Looking forward to playing a lot of matches these next two weeks,” McInerney said.
The Sun Devils will return to Whiteman Tennis Center to face Pennsylvania on Monday, Mar. 9 at 1:30 p.m. MST followed by Marquette on Tuesday, Mar. 10 at 1:30 p.m. MST before heading to Salt Lake City to face Utah on Friday, Mar. 13.
