PULLMAN, Wash. – The No. 19 Arizona State women’s tennis team swept the Washington State Cougars, 6-0, this afternoon to improve their record to 12-3 (3-0) on the season.

“I thought we played very well today. WSU was tough like they always are and I was proud the way our team competed,” said ASU head coach Sheila McInerney. “We had three long three set matches and pulled them all out with a win.”

The day started off with singles as the Sun Devils took a quick lead and never looked back against the Cougars. During singles, juniors Stephanie Vlad and Ebony Panoho and sophomore Kassidy Jump showed dominance as they downed their opponents in straight sets. On court 3, Jump defeated Lize Leenknecht, 6-3, 6-0. Shortly after, Panoho downed her opponent, 6-1, 6-1.

“We showed great mental toughness today,” said coach Sheila McInerney. “ We’ve had a stretch of eight matches in 14 days and our kids have handled the travel and matches very well. We look forward to hosting two really good teams in Stanford and California.”

Next up, the Sun Devils will be back in Tempe to continue Pac-12 play against No. 10 Stanford on Friday, Mar. 27 at 1:30 p.m. MT and No. 3 California on Saturday, Mar. 28 at Noon MT.
