Tempe, Ariz.--The No. 29 Arizona State women's tennis team swept Northern Arizona, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Whiteman Tennis Center. Dominating both singles and doubles, the Sun Devils improve their record against the Lumberjacks to 4-2.
"I'm really happy with the way we came out and took care of business," said ASU head coach Sheila McInerney. "We jumped on them in doubles and continued with singles."
In singles, ASU took down NAU in straight sets in each match. Desirae Krawczyck, ranked 37th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, downed NAU's Johanna Vang, 6-4, 6-1. Ebony Panoho, ranked 132nd by the ITA, swept her opponent, 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles, Krawczyck and Vlad, jointly ranked 42nd by the ITA, defeated NAU's Vang and Emelia Box, 6-0.
"It's nice to get the win as we head into a tough weekend with USF and Pepperdine coming into town," added McInerney.
Up next, the Sun Devils host San Francisco on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 12:00 p.m MT, followed by Pepperdine on Sunday, Mar. 1, and 11:00 a.m. MT.
