Tempe, Ariz.- The No. 32 ASU women’s tennis team picks up a 7-0 win over the UC Davis Aggies to start the season. This extends ASU’s streak against UC Davis to 10-0 all-time.
“The kids are always a little anxious before their first match,” said ASU head coach Sheila McInerney. “It is nice to get the first match under our belts. Everyone felt pretty good and everyone got a win, which is great thing.”
To start the afternoon with doubles, ASU senior Joanna Smith and sophomore Kassidy Jump defeated Pham and Green, while ASU junior Ebony Panoho and sophomore Alexandra Osborne downed Kecki and Slieffer to defeat UC Davis 2-0 in doubles play.
Singles ended quickly as ASU defeated UC Davis 7-0. No. 37 Krawczyk started the season off strong by sweeping UC Davis’s Sanders, 6-0, 6-0.
Up next, the Sun Devils head out to Evansville, Ill., to face Northwestern Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. MT. On Sunday, Jan. 25, ASU takes on either Rice or Kentucky, time TBA.
