NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Senior Jessica Domenichelli scored her first career goal in the 43rd minute and Cali Farquharson added her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 57th minute as the Sun Devil soccer team defeated CSUN 2-0 on Friday night.

The Sun Devils (7-1-1) have won their last six games, which is their best winning streak since 2002 when they won seven in a row.

After a slow start, the Sun Devils started to get closer looks the last 10 minutes of the first half. It appeared for a moment that the Sun Devils had broken the stalemate in the 39th minute, but Larisa Staub’s goal was nullified by an offsides call.

A little less than four minutes later the Sun Devils broke through when Domenichelli fought for the ball at the top of the box, outraced a CSUN defender to the goal and knocked in a sliding shot for her first career goal.

Farquharson came out and took ASU’s first three shots of the second half. She missed the first one high and the second wide right. The third one would prove to be the charm as she took a pass from Jazmarie Mader, slipped a defender and sent a shot from 25 yards from the right side of the goal that bent under the far left post to extend ASU’s lead to 2-0.

With the goal, Farquharson tied Karin Volpe (2007-10) for fifth on ASU’s all-time list with 28 goals. She has six goals in ASU’s last three games.

Chandler Morris collected two saves to pick up her third full shutout of the season. The Sun Devils, who have recorded three straight shutouts, have outscored their opponents 16-1 in their last five games with four shutouts in that span.

With two goals on Friday, the Sun Devils now have 27 goals this season, surpassing their total of 26 from last season.

The Sun Devils return to action next Friday (4 p.m. PT) when they open Pac-12 play at home against top-ranked UCLA. The game will be televised live by Pac-12 Networks. Tickets for the game against the defending national champion Bruins are on sale now and can be purchased by going to this link.
