TEMPE, Ariz. - The final regular season game in Packard Stadium history began with Cory Hahn throwing a strike from 10 feet for the ceremonial first pitch and ended with closer Ryan Burr tossing a strike from 60 feet for the last out to give the Arizona State University baseball team a 4-2 win over Abilene Christian on Tuesday night in Tempe, Ariz.

Right fielder Trever Allen scored the tying run in the seventh inning and broke open a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth with a two-run single to left field as the Sun Devils (31-21) extended their season-long winning streak to seven games.

ASU ended its 40 seasons at Packard Stadium with a .785 winning percentage in 1,430 total games (1,122-307-1). The Devils also secured the highest average attendance on the West Coast and in the Pac-12 for the 10th consecutive year after averaging 2,844 fans per game this season.

Right-handed relievers Jordan Aboites and Burr recorded the final four outs via swinging strikeouts as Aboites (4-2) tossed a perfect eighth inning to earn the win and Burr (11) closed out the ninth to earn his 23rd career save.

Allen led off the bottom of the seventh with a triple to center field and scored the game-tying run in the next at-bat on a RBI single from third baseman Dalton DiNatale. Shortstop Drew Stankiewicz and left fielder Jake Peevyhouse opened the eighth with a single and a double, respectively, and first baseman Nate Causey was intentionally walked two batters later to load the bases for Allen, who drove in the winning runs on a 2-1 count.

Starting right-hander Seth Martinez scattered six hits and an earned run across 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision, and right-hander Eder Erives struck out one in a scoreless seventh.

Causey knocked a RBI double to right-center field in the bottom of the first inning to stake the Devils an early one-run lead. Center fielder Johnny Sewald began the frame with a leadoff walk and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Stankiewicz and a wild pitch before he crossed home on Causey’s team-high 18th extra-base hit of the season.

The Wildcats (17-34) tied the game at one run apiece in the top of the fourth on a double by second baseman Aaron Draper and a run-scoring from center fielder Tyler Eager. They took the lead two innings later on a pair of singles off Martinez, a walk from ASU right-hander Hever Bueno and a passed ball.

ACU right-hander Kevin Sheets (4-4) took the loss after he surrendered the two-run single in the eighth. Starting left-hander Brady Martinez allowed a pair of runs on five hits and struck out five in six innings in a no-decision.

Notes
Allen extended his hitting streaks to 10 games…Peevyhouse has reached base in 18 consecutive games, the longest streak on the team this season…ASU moved to 15-2 this season when they do not commit an error.
