2013 Softball Seniors
Senior (2013):
Made her first appearance as a Sun Devil on Feb. 9 as a pinch hitter against Western Michigan, also getting her first hit. Primarily used as a pinch hitter, got one hit, one RBI, run and walk against Portland State on Feb. 23. Had her best outing in Pac-12 play at Stanford, going 1-for-3 with one run, one walk and one double on April 6.
Junior-Transfer (2012):
Did not play.
Prior to ASU:
Tikey spent the 2010 and 2011 playing for in-state rival Arizona before transferring to ASU at the beginning of her junior season. She is a two-time Academic Scholar Athlete. In 2011 she appeared in 13 games and hit in three-consecutive games (2/18-2/20) , peaking her batting average at an impressive .375. During the 2011 Tucson Super Regional she played four innings in right field.
2010 saw Tikey appear in 35 contests, starting six of those in right field. In her first collegiate outing she notched a two-run single against Western Michigan as a pinch hitter. As a freshman she again saw time during a NCAA Tournament, pinch running during the Super Regional and five times during the Women's College World Series - scoring the eventual winning run in the seventh inning against Washington.
High School:
Tikey comes from Horizon High School where she played four years under coach Blaize Gatti. She was a first-team all-state, all-city and all-conference honoree and was named first team all-region all four years of her career. She holds the school record for most singles in a season. Off the field she received the Stuart Voie scholar-athlete award three times for her dedication in the classroom. Tikey played travel ball with the Gold Hotshots and Arizona Desert Thunder, where she placed in the top 10 at nationals in 2008 and 09.
Personal:
Becca Claire Tikey is the daughter of Bill and Sarah Tikey. She has one sister, Rachel. Her aunt was a catcher for the University of Missouri Rolla. Tikey is majoring in sociology. She loves pulling pranks on her teammates. Hobbies include, hanging with family and friends and traveling.
