OKLAHOMA CITY -
The second day of the Women's College World Series saw Arizona State softball outlasted, 2-1, by Alabama late Friday night. The Sun Devils will face the winner of the South Florida vs. LSU game which is played at 11 a.m. CT/9 a.m. PT.

Arizona State (52-10) falls into the loser bracket after Alabama (57-7) edged past the Sun Devils, 2-1, Friday night. The session had a record-setting attendance of 9, 209, snapping the previous mark of 9,080.

The board remained unlit through three complete innings as the pitchers Dallas Escobedo and Alabama's Jackie Traina went toe-to-toe on the rubber. Escobedo (24-7) went on to retire nine batters in the loss.

In the fourth, ASU got its sole run of the ballgame after Sam Parlich brought around Amber Freeman on a single through the right side - Freeman reached via walk.

The Crimson Tide answered in the top of the fifth, tying the game at 1-1 when Courtney Conley scored on Jennifer Fenton's single up the middle. The score teetered in favor of UA, 2-1, after a homer to center off the bat of Amanda Locke during the top of the sixth.

Alabama would hold on to the 2-1 lead for the remainder of the game to secure its spot in Game 12 of the bracket that takes place on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. CT. UA will await the winner from Saturday out of three possible opponents in Tennessee, Oregon and Arizona State.

Traina improves to 39-2 on the year, striking out 11 in her 7.0 inning performance.
